Our mission statement is not just words — we filter all our ministries through the lens of this focus: We Love God – Love Others – Serve the World.
Love God
Sunday Worship
We love to celebrate our relationship with God together on Sunday mornings. A typical service goes something like this:
At 10am, we all get together in the auditorium, lifting our hearts in musical worship led by our band. Songs from contemporary Christian artists like Chris Tomlin and Matt Redman are frequently featured, as well as hymns and older classics.
We began as a home church, so family and time together is very important to us — the children are all welcomed to gather up front for a story straight from scripture. This story corresponds with the adult message but is told in a way that engages children at their level. The story is followed by a kid’s worship song, led with motions.
The adults greet each other as the children are ushered out to their classes, where they continue to apply what they’ve learned so far. Announcements and the adult message delivered by Pastor Chris follows.
Every other week, we celebrate communion together.
Love Others
Our ministries that show our love for God through our love for others include:
After Service Fellowship
After Sunday service, we enjoy time together to chat and catch up in each other’s lives. We know that food is a great way to enjoy each other, so we bring snacks. It’s not at all unusual for us to hang out for an hour or more, just being together. Sometimes it gets a little loud. Okay, maybe a lot loud. But it’s fun…and at Falcon Ridge Fellowship, we take fun very seriously.
Home Groups
It’s great to hang out on Sundays having a snack, but nothing beats regular, consistent time with a small group of other people. Some of our groups eat dinner, then study God’s Word together. Some meet over breakfast. Some go right to the real meat — study.
This makes it sound all kinds of serious, and sometimes it is, but often, it’s a place to relax and put off the cares of the day-to-day world with some of the best friends you’ll ever make. Be real and be accepted right where you are. That’s what we’re about.
Softball
Softball? That’s a ministry? Uh…yeah! The way we do it, it is! It’s a whole church endeavor — if you don’t play, you’re part of the cheer team or hot dog team.
Annual Family Camping Trip
Every August we get out of town (not very far, though, for our day-trippers) and spend serious time together. Getting away for several days in a row is often the best way to go to the real heart of true friendship.
Something unexpected and amazing always happens, though it must be admitted it’s tough to beat our very first year, where we had a marriage proposal on Saturday night!
Men’s Retreat
One of the coolest things about FRF is our men’s ministry. The men’s retreat has an agenda that would drive women crazy — it’s about as unstructured as you get, with good food, plenty of time to chill and play games, and time to grow in our faith through testimonies.
Women’s Retreat
The women’s retreat has an agenda that would drive the men crazy. At a beautiful location on Whidbey Island with a structured schedule, guest speaker, and small group break out sessions, these retreats are a great opportunity to learn from the best. But it’s not all work and no play — an annual game of Qwelf has resulted in stories that are good for a laugh all year long.
